Thursday, August 25- Zagreb
We began the day with a 2-hour orientation walk. I realized how much Ron and I had missed while traveling on our own; we always enjoyed wandering around at random but sometimes didn’t know the history of what we were seeing. I was glad we’d toured the Cathedral on our visit, though; this time it was closed for repairs. There was still remaining damage from a 5.6 earthquake in April, 2020 , which probably didn’t get attention from the rest of the world since COVID was in all the headlines.

After lunch we were free to go off on our own. I went out wandering again, and visited the Museum of Broken Relationships, I’d heard about it on a BBC podcast and it’s world-famous. I expected it to be mostly cynical but found a lot of profound observations, some stories about loss through death, and a few that were funny. One woman had broken up with a guy who was never satisfied with her appearance. She sent a book he’d given her as a gift: “I Can Make you Thin”.
